If you pay attention to the hype, you might think that Dior's DiorShow Mascara can do no wrong. Indeed, the original DiorShow is a pretty amazing mascara. So when the limited-edition Dior DiorShow Black Out Mascara ($23) hit stores, I rushed out to get a tube. The mascara promised to be darker and more dramatic than the original, as well as to curl, lengthen, and add shine and volume to lashes.
Until now, I had never considered the possibility that a mascara could be too dramatic. But honestly, Black Out is too dark for me. From the moment I put it on until the moment I took it off, I felt like a hooker. So while I give it kudos for fulfilling all of its claims, this mascara is just over the top.
It's great for a night on the town when you're doing the whole fake lashes or mod look, but for an everyday mascara, you better watch out. If you're wearing a mini and heels, be prepared for some unsolicited attention.
Clinique 'Most Wanted' Color Palette are inspired by one of Clinique's most-wanted lip colors: Blushing Nude, Black Honey or Raspberry Glace. The sumptious silver compact features the Color Surge Eyeshadow Trio and Soft Pressed Powder Blusher.

I noticed, accidentally, when I first received the mascara that the side of the box stated how the battery contains mercury and to "See leaflet for disposal". This was a little disheartening since you are going to have to dispose of the mascara in three to six months when it goes bad. After overlooking the battery situation, I wanted to focus on the actual mascara's performance. So I followed the directions on how the mascara works, and began the first application. The initial trial was good, since my lashes curled, there were no clumps, and my lashes looked good but not huge. I was actually shocked that I didn't have to do the shimmy move for the mascara to apply properly. Throughout the day of the first trial I did not experience any smudging or flaking, so I was happy with the product when the time came to remove it at bedtime. So far so good, so score one for Estee Lauder.
Since I always try each product I review two or three times to ensure the product works well, I decided to do the same with Estee Lauder TurboLash mascara. The second and third trial, however, did not go as well. Both applications left some clumping in my lashes but still curled them. There was still no flaking or smudging throughout the day, but the mascara didn't seem to work as well as expected. Overall, the mascara formula was decent since it contains olive oil and made my lashes feel great. However when you factor in the clumping, mediocre volume, higher price point, and the battery containing mercury the overall end review of the mascara is the same as the results I got from the mascara; mediocre. The bottom line is that even though the mascara is a first among many in the industry, I would suggest leaving it to look elsewhere or to use that chunk of change toward your new fall makeup wardrobe. The mascara itself is nothing phenomenal, and the vibration of the wand doesn't completely rid your lashes of clumping. With a price point of $30, it's a little steep to pay for a mascara that doesn't "WOW" you.
The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
A good product!!!
OPI has given us pretty much the old IMNRAW formula under a fetching Russian name. Red Square looks like a very pretty candy apple crimson IN THE BOTTLE but on nails, it’s a different story. It comes out a blue toned, thin metallic red with average pigmentation that fails to impress.
How does it differ from IMNRAW? It definitely has less frost and no brown/burgundy tones but both shades are on the darker side, Affair being the lighter red. Some people are calling Affair a “ruby” but I believe this shade fails to qualify as a ruby red precisely because of its dark tone.
I honestly can’t understand the fascination with this shade. Just make sure it’s not the name but the shade that you are falling in love with.
They cut hair pretty good.
This Lipstick from Alley Cat really is the purrfect red color. It is probably the best red color I’ve ever had. I bought this product a week ago and have been using it ever since. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to buy some new lipstick.
I only recently discovered the Alley Cat brand, and so far I really like their products!!
I bought this on a whim for a smidge over $7 and although its a pleasing product to use, I don’t think its ‘special’ enough to warrant the price tag, although there’s plenty of product in the 250g pot. There’s no real scent to this product after using it, which I’ve always felt was part of the joy of LUSH - the amazing smells! In fact, after a few washes, it just began to smell like typical household soap to me. The whipped, fluffy ‘smoothie’ consistency is absolutely beautiful, and it does make my skin lovely and soft, plus it can shift dirt better than the buttercreams, but that’s probably because it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - yes, THAT infamous detergent *tut tut LUSH*. I’m prone to b-acne so I avoided using it on my chest and back because of the oils and cocoa butter, so I can’t say whether or not it would break me out.
I also found it a little too alkaline for my liking - just very very slightly drying, but I’m used to the buttercreams, so it may just be the comparison. All in all, its nice to use as a quick, slightly lathering shower soap, but it didn’t have the wow factor I’m used to with LUSH products.
